Over the course of three years, the building was reimagined from the ground up by my architecture firm Studio Oliver Jungel.
Today, I compare our new facade with museum vitrines that protect important objects— pieces of cultural identity. Our vitrine spanning four levels is built to protect all our fragile compositions and the life inside.
The new part of the building opens up onto the garden without wanting to be something from inside. We imagined rooms with a view through invisible huge windows of a garden full of slowly moving bamboo.
We started to uncompromisingly create rooms with invisible technology and meditative calmness, leaving the world outside.
The garden is framed by the original wall with all the patina from the past.
